Sunshine AE L’s Farm was established by 28-year-old single parent Jennie Liza P. Flores from Sta. Lucia, Sta. Ana, Pampanga. She works as a secretary of their cooperative.
Getting acquainted with quails
During the pandemic, her enthusiasm with agriculture began when her uncle introduced her to the world of quail farming. Flores decided to pursue a quail production business to support the daily needs of her two children.
Her farm supplies quail eggs in the local community. Flores also processes quail eggs into kwek-kwek, pugolot, and other related products in a bilao set. She continues researching to develop and add some agricultural products to expand her agribusiness venture.
Receiving recognitions
Recently, Flores won as one of Central Luzon’s Provincial and Regional Level awardee in the Young Farmers Challenge Fund (YFCF): Kabataang Agribiz Program, where she received a financial grant of Php 50,000 from the Provincial Level and Php 50,000 from the Regional Level. The said amount was used to supplement her agribusiness venture. As part of the youth sector, Flores wanted to address the challenge of the continuing aging of the country’s farmers and show her fellow youth that there is money in agriculture.
Flores, representing the youth, believes that agriculture is the key to the country’s development. She encourages fellow youth to cultivate knowledge in the agriculture sector, as she believes that the participation of youth is one of the solutions in attaining food security in the Philippines. ###
