Agriculture Secretary William Dar today shared with the editors and reporters of the Philippine Daily Inquirer the latest updates on the agriculture sector in the country.
The agri chief presented the Department’s new thinking for agriculture, emphasizing that agriculture is not a stand-alone production machine but an industry inherently linked to the other sectors of the economy. He also tackled major issues confronting the sector, specifically on hog diseases and palay prices.
“We are counting on the media to help us continue to educate our stakeholders, particularly the farmers and fishers,” said Dar.

Joining Secretary Dar were Noel Reyes, DA spokesperson and assistant secretary for communications and media affairs; Myriam Layaoen, deputy for communications; and Daryl Battad, close-in writer and social media manager.
The visit is first of the series of roundtable discussions set for the members of the media, in recognition of their role in communicating vital information to the public. Schedules with other media outfits are being arranged.
